Airports, tax refunds, baggage and the next border

Airport and connections

Check airport codes: BKK and DMK are different airports. Confirm the terminal and pickup point. Allow for traffic and your airline’s check-in procedure. Separate tickets may not protect a missed connection.

VAT Refund

Use participating shops and keep the original invoices and forms. Check the Revenue Department’s current procedure before check-in, especially inspection requirements. Do not check goods into hold baggage before confirming whether officials need to see them.

Souvenirs and baggage

Check three separate rule sets: Thai Customs, airline security and destination import rules. Liquids, batteries, medicines, fresh food, plants and animal products can have different restrictions. Buying at an airport does not guarantee admission at your destination.

Next country

Verify the entry point, operating hours and documents with destination authorities before paying for transport or accommodation. For land routes, keep an alternative if a border or service changes.
